SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – MTC International, a division of MTC Holdings headquartered in San Francisco, Calif., has acquired a relevant stake in Transtainer S.A., a Chilean logistics company based in San Antonio Port, and its subsidiary, Seaport S.A

Marine Terminals Corp. President and CEO Doug Tilden commented on the company’s investment in Chile.

"We’ve been focusing on the west coast of South America for quite some time and are pleased to become established in this important region,” Tilden said. “We couldn’t have found better partners than the founders of Transtainer S.A. and Seaport S.A."

The founders of Transtainer S.A. and Seaport S.A., Mario Urrutia and Horacio García, have been involved in port and maritime activities in Chile for more than 20 years.

"We are very proud that MTC decided to become established in South America, starting in Chile as partners of our companies,” García said. “We feel confident that MTC´s participation will bring its modern and global vision into the companies, thus allowing us to better assist the current and future needs of our customers."

Founded in 1931, Marine Terminals Corp. is a leading national contract stevedore and terminal operating company that provides services for all types of commodities, including more than six million TEUs annually through its 26 West Coast and 6 East Coast locations. MTC provides global services through MTC International and MTC de Mexico. MTC has joint ventures with major ocean carriers and affiliates in equipment and IT software.

Combined, Transtainer and Seaport services improve customers’ logistics, produce savings, optimize warehousing and transportation management and eliminate hidden costs. Transtainer S.A. operates a fleet of trucks specialized in container transportation and a fleet of reach stackers, forklifts and side lifters, with highly trained operators experienced in containerized cargo handling. Seaport S.A.’s strategic location is ideal for Chilean import and export and transit cargo operations for Argentina and other South American countries. The company specializes in providing cargo logistics for agricultural, forest and industrial export companies and retail, industrial and automobile import products. Approved by Chilean Customs as bonded warehouse, the company provides services in the vicinity of San Antonio Port.

MTC´s expertise and its important strength in logistics services will add to the capacity of these Chilean companies. The combined entities are well positioned for the anticipated growth and expansion of the Chilean and South American marketplace.
