Marine Terminals Corp. Wins PMA Safety Awards

At this year’s round of PMA Annual Safety Awards banquets, Marine Terminals Corp. was recognized in several areas for its achievements in workplace safety.
In the Washington PMA coastal area, MTC’s containers operations in Puget Sound won 1st Place Group B Container Operator Lowest Injury Rate and Reduction in Injury Rate.
In the Oregon area, MTC at Terminal 6, Portland, garnered 1st Place Group C Container Operator Lowest Injury Rate – Coast Level. This was the second time Terminal 6 has won a Coast level award. Also in the Oregon area, MTC in Vancouver received 2nd Place Group B Stevedore Lowest Injury Rate and Reduction in Injury Rate 3 Consecutive Years – Coast Level.
MTC in Stockton won 1st Place Group C Stevedore Lowest Injury Rate – Northern California Area as well as Reduction in Injury Rate.
MTC Los Angeles/Long Beach was recognized with 2nd Place Group A Stevedore Lowest Injury Rate –Coast Level and Southern California Area level. MTC in Port of Hueneme for the second consecutive year was recognized for Reduction in Injury Rate, as was MTC in San Diego for Reduction in Injury Rate.
The National Lines Bureau in Southern California was awarded Reduction in Injury Rate for the second consecutive year.
MTC Exec. VP Operations Dave Adam commented on MTC’s overall accomplishments.
"Safety in all MTC’s operations, with all regional safety departments ISO registered, has always been a top priority,” Adam said. “However, we know these achievements represent a group effort that could not have been accomplished without the tremendous support of our ILWU labor force.”
