OAKLAND, Calif. – MTC Holdings (MTCH) recently announced the formation of MTC International and MTC de Mexico, SA de CV.

In making the announcement President and CEO Doug Tilden spoke about MTCH’s plans to expand its service offerings internationally, with particular focus on meeting its customers’ needs for expanded terminal services in Mexico.”

“Our business success in the past has been driven by our ability to deliver a broad range of value-added services to the international shipping community,” Tilden said. “MTCH’s international expansion will provide our customers with the additional infrastructure required to meet growing international shipper demands.”

By forming MTC de Mexico, MTCH has signaled their keen interest in adding capacity to the North American market.

“Mexico has made huge investments in port, highway and rail infrastructure creating options not available in years past,” Tilden added. “MTCH is prepared to add its commercial alliances, financial strength and operating wherewithal to the equation.”

The MTC de Mexico has offices in Mexico City and Tijuana, both headed by MTC de Mexico Director General Miguel Favela.  MTC International will be based in MTC’s Oakland headquarters.

MTC Holdings’ business units include Alameda-based Embarcadero Systems Corp., Oakland-headquartered Marine Terminals Corp., and MTC-East, serving the U.S. East Coast since 2001. Combined, MTC has stevedoring and terminal operations in more than 26 West Coast locations and five East Coast ports, handles more than six million TEUs annually and provides a comprehensive network of related cargo-handling services for automobiles, refrigerated commodities, steel, forest products, general cargo, bulk, rolling stock, military and special projects. MTC’s services are enhanced and expanded through affiliates that specialize in insurance, warehousing, equipment, M&R, and software development, and joint ventures with major ocean carriers.
