MTC Holdings Creates New Position of Exec. VP Business Development

MTC Holdings (MTCH) recently announced the creation of the new position of executive vice president business development, which will focus on growing MTCH's business across the enterprise by leveraging its existing businesses, operating investments, customer base and geographic reach toward a broader and more diversified company. Steven Lautsch, former head of Embarcadero Systems Corp.s (ESC) worldwide commercial operations, was appointed to this position effective June 1, 2005. In making the announcement, President and CEO Doug Tilden spoke about the companys commitment to dedicating resources toward expansion, Lautschs extensive qualifications and the vital role he will play in the companys future. Our business success in the past had been driven by consistent growth which in the future may take us in new directions, Tilden said. Steve brings 25 years of experience that includes an extensive operational and commercial background in maritime and intermodal transportation with a keen insight into strategic business alternatives to enhance efficiency in the transportation and logistics sectors. In his new position at MTCH, he will collaborate with our business unit leadership to identify, pursue and capture enterprise-wide business opportunities. A primary focus for Lautsch will be defining, articulating and offering compelling value to current and potential customers by blending services from individual business units into a unique and more complete offering not available from any single unit. He will report directly to Doug Tilden in Oakland. Prior to joining ESC, Lautsch was the president and founding partner of The Kingsley Group, an international consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, mergers and acquisition execution. Through the establishment of Transporté Internacional, Lautsch was a key figure in creating dialogue, debate and thought leadership between government and private stakeholders. Throughout the 90s Kingsley was heavily involved in cross-border transportation and business privatization initiatives for both the buy and sell sides. Lautsch has also held a number of high-level operating and commercial positions in the railroad industry. Lautsch is a member of the American Association of Port Authorities, Council of Logistics Management and the Intermodal Association of North America. He has keynoted and addressed many trade conferences, industry organizations, government and legislative bodies. MTC Holdings business units include Alameda-based Embarcadero Systems Corp., Oakland-headquartered Marine Terminals Corp., and MTC-East, serving the U.S. East Coast since 2001. Combined, MTC has stevedoring and terminal operations in more than 26 West Coast locations and five East Coast ports, handling more than six million TEUs annually and providing a comprehensive network of related cargo-handling services for automobiles, refrigerated commodities, steel, forest products, general cargo, bulk, rolling stock, military and special projects.
