holds many "Firsts" in perishable cargo on the West
Coast, including:
The
first stevedore and terminal operating company in San Diego to
discharge New Zealand kiwis and Australian oranges;
The
first stevedore to load one million cartons of citrus in the Port
of Hueneme;
First
to bring frozen meat into the Port of Hueneme
And
the first to participate in a joint venture to develop and
build the first double-Plenum, single-high, on-dock cold storage
facility in Long Beach.
MTC
instituted the usage of special soft gear and will continue

vessel production while maintaining optimal environmental
conditions for this weather- and temperature-sensitive cargo.
