Breakbulk

General cargo covers a wide array of products and a variety of packaging formats, from individual pieces like steel slabs to unitized, bundled, flat, bagged, crated, and palletized commodities. MTC even loaded the Space Shuttle’s wing assemblies.

MTC provides general cargo services in both large and small ports all along the coast. The variety of ports and their locations offer excellent opportunities for general cargo shipments.

Maintaining a large inventory of equipment and having experienced, qualified personnel enable MTC to respond quickly to customers’ special needs and short-notice cargo movements.

For steel products, MTC was the first stevedore company to use a coil cage to hoist two coils at a time, devise pre-slung loads, use rubber coated pipe hooks and build special handling racks to automatically separate pipe. With more sophisticated vessels and stowage, traditional procedures are not sufficient. Therefore, MTC continues to customize gear and equipment to expedite loading and discharging.

Bagged cargoes, like wheat seed and rice, provide additional opportunities for MTC to show its strength in creating better handling methods. We have all customized equipment, including maneuverable forklifts, specially fabricated spreaders and ramps, and semi-automatic Cranston hooks.

Safety is an important component when working diverse cargo, be it in the ship’s hold, on the dock or in the warehouses. Marine Terminals Corporation has record-breaking, award-winning safety and accident prevention programs on the coast. MTC’s commitment to the safety of its work force and customers’ cargo is demonstrated every day through these on-going programs.
